Unquestionably the finest military commander Canada has produced, General Sir Arthur Currie remains an enigmatic figure.  Blinded by hero worship, Canadian historians have simplified a complex man - hailing his achievements but ignoring his flaws.  Who was the real Arthur Currie?

We had a series of challenges on Friday. In editing the video, we have added complementary content and worked to resolve or at least improve audio issues. We have learned from the situation and will take these lessons forward to upcoming events. We hope attendees were able to laugh off the issues and enjoy the presentation — it was Friday the 13th after all!

Pat BrennanAbout the Presenter

Patrick Brennan earned his PhD at York University. He has been an Associate Professor in the History Department of the University of Calgary since 1989. Dr. Brennan's research interests focus on the impact of the Great War on Canada, and in particular the transformation from civilian to soldier within the CEF's officer corps.
